Why can't anyone see this?

Well, school started a few weeks ago. Things are going well and I'm having a good time.
God has shown me a lot lately, and I've been reading this author named Donald Miller. Amazing stuff. Visionary.
Art is also fascinating me more and more. Not exactly art itself, because I've always loved that, but our human need for art. I think it does something to us. It is the perfect medium for conveying certain emotions and ideas. What I mean to say is, why is a picture really worth a thousand words? Why can one line of poetry say more than a whole sixteen volume encyclopedia ever will? And how come a line of music, simply some dots placed on some lines in an organized fashion, make someone weak in the knees, make someone cry, and make someone feel that there is something bigger out there than themselves? That is what I mean when I say that art is fascinating to me.
I also think there is a reason that so much poetry is used in the Bible. God could have said the same things in one huge list.
1. God created everything
2. Obey these rules
3. Jesus loves you
4. He wants you to love other people
5. He's coming back again
The Bible wasn't written like that. Those are the hard facts. So why is so much art used in the Bible in order to explain different things? Any anthropologist would tell you that art is a big part of human existance. Every culture has it's own art. Music, painting, sculpture, dance. It is all so intrinsically bound into the very existence of each culture. We can learn so much about a culture's history by look at it's art.Why is this? I don't really have the answer, but maybe the question itself is beautiful enough to keep me occupied for a while.

(I now have deep, uncontrollable urge to study Hebrew.)
